Dear Creative Seeker,
The I's of March are Inspiration, Intuition, Ingenuity, Imagination, and Intergalactic Travel. "To Infinity and beyond." As Buzz Lightyear would say. My wish for you is to "march" forward in all of these areas. Begin by listening to that wise voice deep inside.
"I" is also a "letter" and the picture you see to the right is Meg Hill's interpretation of a love letter.. (in the spirit of loose associations). Your March creative project prompt is to collage, paint, sculpt, doodle or dance a love letter. Make it a love letter to your muse. Or to your leprechaun. Or to someone who means a lot to you. Or even better, someone who means very little.
Here are some March acronyms:
From Laurie Hawley:
Muse Albert Raises Creative Hypotheses.
Muse Audacity Rouses Courageous Hutzpah.
Marge Applauds Routine Created Habits.
From Mary Gray:
March Around Resistance. Choose Happiness.
From Nicky Pitman:
My Aunt Rona Chases Handsome Hunks
Many A Recovering Chocaholic Heal
May All Random Coincidences Happen
Me:
Many Artists Receive Creative Hiccups
I am Jill Badonsky, M.Ed. a creativity instigator, Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coach founder and trainer, artist, storyteller, workshop leader, and author of the book, The Nine Modern Day Muses (and a Bodyguard) . I lurk at www.themuseisin.com . I am skilled in getting two cats who have jealousy issues to purr simultaneously.

To continue with the I's of March, to "I" add "CAN" and then you have "I CAN Do IT" and then apply it to your Creative Dream and if your obnoxious inner critic tells you that you CAN'T well just reply, "I'll DO IT anyway." Do it for your self-esteem.
Why do we talk about self esteem in a publication on creativity?
Self-esteem is simply essential to the creative process, that’s all. Feeling good about ourselves is so important to eliciting the motivation needed to 1) make the time needed to answer our creative call and, 2) feel like we have something worthwhile to share. Additionally, when we don't have self-esteem, that unrelenting tyrant - perfectionism, is more likely to appear. When used at full strength, perfectionism simply adds to our self-loathing as it can set us up for failure by demanding that we meet up to its unrealistic expectations. Unrealistic expectations are…unrealistic. When we perceive failure, our self-esteem plummets and so does our motivation. We need motivation – without it we are more susceptible to the many distractions and excuses that keep us from our creative process.
So Aha-phrodite came up with a scheme to help your self worth to rise – in the process, enhanced inspiration and motivation will follow.
Go get your journal, or pull up a blank word document. Write down all of the roles you play in your life- For example: mother or father, significant other, your career title, writer, artist, pet owner, shopper, observer, spiritual being. Then write down positive adjectives that you strive to (and mostly likely do) employ for those roles. You will meet up with a collection of positive attributes (unless you have a block obstructing your own brilliance.
For instance in my role as a Workshop Leader I try to employ empathy, confidence, intuition, quick wit, clarity, resourcefulness, helpfulness, perception, cosmetic correctiveness, good accessories, responsiveness, and ingenuity.
As a cat owner I employ good listening skills, perseverance in the face of hairballs, tolerance for fur on most of my black (and some navy blue – though I look much better in black) articles of clothing, playfulness, coyote cautiousness, openness to being walked on, and sensitivity to tuna and catnip needs.
And as a writer I employ a little quirkiness.
Etc.
So in the process of just reflecting on this exercise I feel a little esteem wattage being generated. I need esteem wattage in creativity. It actively lights up my little idea light bulbs. I love idea light bulbs.
If you just read through this exercise without doing it -WAIT JUST A #*@$#& MINUTE. Are you the type who HAS a library of books on creativity under your bed but reads them without doing any of it? One of the keys to creative growth is to throw yourself into action, any action, with no attachment to the result. One of the ways to procrastinate in the creative process is to read a lot without applying what you read.
Will Rogers said "Even if you're on the right track, you'll still get run over if you don't do anything." If not now.. when?
Spread muse energy for lucky March... the luck is when you forward energy - it come back to you. Forward this to someone who needs a little more self esteem.

EVERYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM AND ENJOY LIFE MORE BY BEING CREATIVE
As a highly sensitive, creatively obsessed person, studying the creative process since 1979, Jill Badonsky has written a popular book and developed this model of creativity coaching that is catalyzing long lasting breakthroughs for individuals wanting to move forward in creative pursuits or who want to think and act in a more creative manner. Creativity seekers from all walks of life are learning and integrating life-changing tools that result not only in less frustration and resistance in the process of creativity but also result in a new lease in the journey of life.
In 2005, during her continuing exploration of helpful tools, Jill discovered UCLA psychologist and international workshop leader, Dr. Robert Maurer’s book, One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way. (wwwscienceofexcellence.com). His work has greatly influenced, augmented and simplified portions of this coaching model. His participation in the program enriches it with his impressive background, expertise, and gentle, thorough style of teaching.
Here are just a few compnents of Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching's philosophy:
1. Empowering questions, intuitive reflections and the prescription of tools discovered and proven over and over to honor the creative process and the idiosyncrasies, uniqueness, resistance and sensitivities experienced by creative individuals or any individual embarking upon the creative process, support, guide and inspire clients to make long lasting changes.
2. Distinctively designed, Kaizen-Muse guided imageries are instrumental in quieting unhelpful mental chatter and in eliciting and cultivating imagination, intuition and inner wisdom.
3. State of the art approaches that reshape the way the mind works in order to establish lasting changes, make creative living, thinking, and productivity easier. Frustrations of frequently experienced creative blocks and resistance are at last solved and creative progress is more easily made.
4. Tapping into and cultivating our child-like spirit liberates creativity. By giving ourselves permission to be free from judgment at the beginning of a process and to stay with a journey that often veers off into opportunity masquerading as dead ends, unexpected discoveries, seductive tangents, and , rest stops where nothing appears to be happening yet subconscious activity is busy being restored for a future burst of inspiration.
5.The use of play, compassion and gentleness are essential to creative progress. Unconventional tools framed playfully, shift the individual into a sphere of possibility and easily enlist long lasting commitment.

Writing Prompts:
"Strip your poem to
the bare bones. Only
use nouns..."
Continue with this
start:
"Fred? I just
noticed that there's
a tunnel in our
closet..."
Use these words and
more in poetry,
prose or nonsense:
mellow, dry wall,
frame, shiver,
reflect, instigate,
gang, yell, partake,
privy, wind chimes,
line.
In honor of Jack
Kerouac's birthday,
write a
freedom-laden,
run-on sentence
about an experience
you had on a trip.
Feel free to
embellish. To get
you in the mood,
here's an excerpt
from his work, The
Subterraneans
"So there we were at
the Red Drum, a
tableful of beers a
few that is and all
the gangs cutting in
and out, paying a
dollar quarter at
the door, the little
hip-pretending
weasel there taking
tickets, Paddy
Cordavan floating in
as prophesied (a big
tall blond brakeman
type subterranean
from Eastern
Washington
cowboy-looking in
jeans coming in to a
wild generation
party all smoky and
mad and I yelled
"Paddy Cordavan?"
and and "Yeah?" and
he'd come over)--all
sitting
together...."
